Shark Steam Mop vs Bissell Steam Mop
How Does the Shark Steam Mop Compare to the Bissell Steam
Mop
In this steam mop comparison, it's the Shark Steam Mop vs Bissell Steam
Mop. Who will come out on top?
Feature Comparisons:
If you have certain features that are important in a steam mop, see how they
measure up
Cord Length - The Shark has a 20 foot cord. Fairly
standard for steam mops. The Bissell has a 17 foot cord.
Water Tank - The Shark's water tank holds about 10 ounces, the
Bissell's tank can hold about 13 ounces of water. The Bissell Steam Mop also has a removable tank which makes
refilling it easier.
Price - The
Shark Steam Mop can currently be purchased for about 25% less than the
Bissell Steam Mop on Amazon. Also, the Bissell uses filters so replacing them will be an additional cost to
consider.
Mop Head Features - The Bissell has a mop head that can
swivel. The Shark doesn't. A swivel mop head makes mopping with your steam mop easier.
Steam Action - Probably one of the more important things when
choosing a steam mop is how good the steaming action of the mop
is. This seems to be a draw when it comes to the Shark vs Bissell. They both have one steam hole while
other steam mops usually have several. I have read reviews that stated the Bissell did produce a heavier
amount of steam than the Shark though.
Weight - The Shark at about 3 lbs. is lighter than the Bissell's
7 lbs. but at a price. There are plenty of complaints about how flimsy the Shark feels.
Build - Hands down on this one the Bissell appears to be the
design winner. With numerous complaints about it's flimsy design and handles breaking, the Shark Steam Mop
could use a makeover. (Note: Shark took note and created the Shark Steam Pocket Mop which addresses some of the
flaws the original Shark has)
Pads - Consumers complained about the Bissell Steam Mop's thinner
mop pads. Shark's mop pads are thicker. Also, the Bissell pads have to be attached with elastic bands
while the Shark pads velcro on which makes changing them out during mopping easier. Each comes with two
mop pads.
Comparison Wrap Up - Who's the Winner?
You can draw your own conclusions based on the features that are important to you
but I will offer my own opinion too. I've read hundreds of steam mop reviews and if I had to choose
between the
Bissell Steam Mop and the
Shark Steam Mop , I would without a doubt choose the Bissell Steam Mop.
Even though it costs a little more and there were some complaints about the mop
pads being a little too thin, there were far more complaints about the Shark and it's performance and build.
I suggest you spend a little more money and get the more sturdily build Bissell.
If you haven't looked at the
Eureka Enviro Steamer , I would suggest you give it some consideration as well. It's extremely affordable, gets
high ratings, and produces hotter steam than both the Shark and the Bissell.
If you have your heart set on a Shark, take a look at the much higher rated
Shark Steam Pocket Mop .
